Grace Vs. Mercy

Time For Truth
In today's twisted views on Scripture, I find it interesting how people mis-use Scripture for their own benefit. One of the many words being abused is the word grace.
Paul the apostle had a problem with his eyesight. He tells us he prayed three times for the Lord to take the problem away. The Lord's response was that His "grace" was sufficient for Paul.
Basically, it merely means that God had given Paul the strength to bare up under the burden of his difficult situation. So when the Scriptures tell us that we are not under law but under "grace," we are supposed to understand what is being said by the writer.
The writer is not saying that we don't need to worry about following the laws of God. He is telling us that God has given us the strength to obey the laws of God even during tough temptations!
But if we choose to, we can disobey them with great ease. The choice is always ours. If we choose to disobey them, there will be consequences. If you murder, you might get killed or sent to prison.
This should help those who are continually saying, "I am not under the law, but under grace," understand that it does not mean they can sin and get away with it.
Mercy on the other hand, is God's ability to cover our sins even though we do not deserve them to be covered. This was accomplished through Jesus' death on the cross which paid the penalty for our sin.
But think about it. Do you think that Jesus' sacrifice should mean that you can do whatever you want too without even thinking about right and wrong. If this is you then you need to rethink what God is saying to us in His Word.
We all sin, no doubt about it. We all have weaknesses also. But as the first section says, God has given us His grace. We can choose not to sin. The problem is, that too many are satisfied with the mercy and therefore ignore the grace of God which enables them to obey God's commandments!
This is why God tells us to renew our minds by the washing and regeneration of His Word! He wants us to renew our thinking to line up with His way of thinking of things. His ways are right and ours are wrong.
May God grant the reader to understand this message.
