Time For Truth
What's a fellow to do? You search the world over for a decent job only to have much younger and energetic people get selected. This world is youth oriented. If you're young and attractive you get the breaks. Doors open automatically.
But when you get older, all your hard work of building your record of employment goes down the drain. Especially if you had a boss who did not like you even if you were never late, did three times as much work as everyone else etc.
Older people running around everywhere looking for work while those younger seem to have no problem getting the jobs. Nothing against young folks. I was there once. I know what it is to be energetic. But experience means alot also. Anyway, just thought I'd write a few thoughts down to relieve some pressure.
I realize this is probably all in my head. But then again? What do I know. I'm as ignorant as the next person as to why after 150 applications I can't even get a call back. My record is sufficient to get one. I have held many management positions. Oh well, as I said, who knows. The clock is ticking. I can hear it in my head.
Tic toc tic toc. Guess I'll just have to see what comes next in the course of life. Anyone out there feel anything like this? Let me know. Hopefully I'm not on too familiar ground. I'd hate to think there are so many like me out there. God bless and keep you wherever you are.

For myself I have to work hard to stand up to that belief in myself that only young people have value. I hope you get a really good response soon. Please log in to respond to this comment. Thanks and God bless. Keep on writing. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Jesus, you are right, this is a huge problem where youth is viewed as superior to experience. There's no easy solution to this, I believe a lot of businesses are blinkered by their long term outlook. They seem to expect younger employees to be more loyal and stay on for the long term - usually the opposite happens.I hope you find what you are looking for, just keep on trying :)Please log in to respond to this comment. Thanks for the reply and God bless. Please log in to respond to this comment.
